The Welcoming Wine and Cheese

Frank Gelin (left), from the British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfer, Sally Ross, President of Yukon College, and Louis Schilder, Conference Co-ordinator, sample some of the vintage "Chateau C3" created especially for the occasion.

Heather Avison (left), Jacky McGuire (seated), Wendy Avison, and the conference's youngest attendee, Connor Donaldson (Heather's son). Connor attended the first day sessions and made less noise than many of the older kids in attendance.

The Fun Run

The fun run group before the start of the race. The clenched teeth tell you something about the temperature that morning.

They're off! Runners head down the trail along the Yukon River. This year's run had a definite cross-country flavour, and included some sight-seeing at the half way point beside the fish ladder.

The winners. Bob Perkins (left) and Rick Bolesta won the race T-shirts, and Rick holds the coveted J. Willard Gibbs Trophy. Be sure to read The Real Story of the race.

Social Activities

The chef from "the Chocolate Claim" barbeques for the Friday lunch.
Shannon Beyak is presented with the C3 Student Scholarship by Sudhir Abhyankar. Shannon started at Yukon College in 1994 in the Business Administration Program, but switched into the College prep Program in 1995. She intends to complete first year science at Yukon before going south to complete her degree in a life or physical science. The C3 Award includes a cheque for $400 and a certificate.
Louis Schilder presides over the conference banquet at the Mount MacIntyre Recretional Centre. The Tatshenshini Rafting Gang after a successful trip down the river. The trip started on the Blanchard River just inside the BC-Yukon border, and ended at Dalton Post on the upper Tatshenshihi. Some people chose to go down the river without the raft, and they can confirm that the water was cold. Everyone warmed up afterwards at the Raven Restaurant in Haines Junction.
Coffee Break. Delegates take time to talk to speakers, learn about a new demo, or just plain carbo-load. Suzanne Gardner is sitting in the centre of the photo, and our honorary Canadians, Max and Dot Ferguson can be seen behind, talking to Bill Blann
